What? 10 reasons NOT to move to Sequim? Isn’t that heresy? Why would a Sequim Buyer’s Agent create a video showing people reasons not to move to Sequim? I’ll tell you right up front. There are people who decide not to move to Sequim specifically because of each of these 10 reasons.
These are real reasons some buyers choose not to move to Sequim. I’ve had clients who expressed their reasons, and they included every one of these 10 reasons.
10 Reasons For or Against Sequim WA
There have been some critical comments on Youtube under this video with statements intimating that these are actually 10 reasons to move to Sequim, not 10 reasons to avoid Sequim as a retirement destination. That may be true for the person who doesn’t care about big malls and specialty shopping. It is true that some may see the lack of big malls as an attraction rather than a detraction. Obviously, I love Sequim and have been here for 26 years, so none of these 10 reasons have been enough to discourage me, and they aren’t enough to discourage the hundreds and the thousands of buyers who have retired in Sequim over these many years. But these are reasons some people do not retire in Sequim, and so being the blunt person I am, and always sharing what is true, even if it discourages buyers from buying a home through me, I have to admit I enjoyed doing this video, and already in a very short period of time it has over 3,100 views. In the first 24 hours it had over 1,000 views, so some people are finding it interesting and hopefully helpful in their decisions about where to retire.
Another comment someone made about this video is that I was wrong about Sequim not having enough restaurants. I don’t know why that person wrote that (unless they’re just defensive about any criticisms of Sequim), because for as long as I can remember, people in Sequim and buyers moving to Sequim have said Sequim doesn’t have enough fine restaurants. That’s objectively true. I love eating out at a good restaurant with delicious food, but my options are limited.
Why would someone say something so contrary in a comment on the Internet? Well, don’t get me started, but have you ever watched the scrolling comments on a live Youtube streaming event? My goodness, talk about nonsense and craziness. You’ll see comments that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic, and some very bizarre comments, some vulgar, and some that must be from another planet (if there are other planets). And there are many other articles that start with “10 Reasons . . .” on every subject under the sun. Almost.
Having said that, I appreciate relevant and rational comments to my Youtube videos and my blog articles, and I find the bizarre comments entertaining. I leave them when I can, but sometimes comments are so vulgar or so sexually explicit, I have had to delete them to protect you and the public.
10 Reasons May Be Positive For Some
I will say these 10 reasons, while negative for some, are positively 10 reasons for me to live here. I would also say that Sequim WA offers so many things to people who want to live in the country and don’t need to be in a concrete jungle or near big shopping malls. Aren’t shopping malls on their way out anyway? Sequim grows on you, and it’s not just half a dozen good reasons so many of us fall in love with Sequim–there are 100 little reasons, but they all make the quality of life in Sequim WA just amazing.
If you enjoy or appreciate my efforts with articles or videos like this, please consider leaving a nice comment. [Insert laughter here.]
