Great comment Werner. I think a lot of contractors around the country, and related businesses, have jumped on the “green” bandwagon to make money with claims of being green. I’m really consumer-centric in my writing and in my own business, so I strive to continue to educate the public about what is true and what is false on many real estate and building issueds. As a rhetorical question I would ask, “Who isn’t claiming to be green these days?” Unfortunately, the rule still is, “Caveat Emptor.”
I really like the fact that you introduce the concept of green building on the website. The thing that is important is that there is only one exclusively “green-builder” in the area, Eco-Green Builders, Inc. Many builders will say that they will build “green” for $180 to $200 per square foot, which gives consumers the impression that it is expensive. These builders generally do not use the construction materials which will lead to a strong certification and will not be as thermally efficient or as healthy as Eco-Green Builders’ products.
