          Real Estate in SequimBuying real estate in Sequim and selling real estate in Sequim involves two completely different mindsets, different ways of thinking. Most sellers do not realize that buyers are on a different wave length. Most sellers assume they know how buyers think. That can create problems for sellers who are unable to get inside their buyers’ heads. As a result, sellers often make mistakes in their approach to listing and marketing their properties, and they often become frustrated. Let me explain why this is true.

          Real Estate in Sequim for Sellers

          Sellers do not think like buyers. That might be an obvious statement on the surface, but it’s more dramatic than most people realize. I was reminded of this when I talked with a seller recently in Sequim.

          After talking with me, this seller realized how important the Internet is to effectively market and sell his home. He and his wife subsequently did some Google searches to see which Realtors showed up on the Internet, and he said that I didn’t show up. I knew he was telling me the truth about his experience, but I also knew that it was not true that I don’t show up. My clients know that I show up for literally hundreds of phrases that buyers actually search, and I believe it is an objective statement to say that I show up more than any other local agent by an order of magnitude.           Real Estate in Sequim for Buyers

          My interest in this subject is not a self esteem issue. My self esteem is intact. My interest is in recognizing that there clearly is a huge difference in the way sellers and buyers think. That interests me because it is very important when it comes to communicating with clients and selling homes.

          How could this seller do several Google searches and not find me?  [Try typing “Sequim Buyers Agent” without the quotes, and 70% of the first page of the Google search results are my sites as of this writing, or “Sequim water view property” or “Chuck Marunde” and you’ll see what I mean.]

          Real Estate in Sequim – Buyers and Sellers Think Differently

          How could this seller not find me in a search for real estate in Sequim or any related subjects when I show up hundreds of places that buyers search?  The answer demonstrates this dichotomy between buyers and sellers. This seller was not searching Google the same way buyers do, not even close. He couldn’t get his head inside buyers’ heads, and so he did not use Google the same way. The searches this seller executed were not searches where I should show up, because buyers do not execute those same searches. I do not optimize my marketing for searches that buyers do not do. But this seller did not understand that. He assumed his mind defaulted to the same search phrases buyers use, but he was wrong.

          The simple truth is sellers think differently about real estate in Sequim than buyers do, especially about how to search for real estate in Sequim.
