The best Sequim MLS site has just been upgraded to make it more powerful and easier to use, although it was already the best Sequim MLS site for buyers who are searching the Sequim MLS from all over the country. Here’s the good news for you if you are searching online for your home in the Sequim area, or any of the surrounding communities.
Since Sequim and Port Angeles have two MLS systems in place, it can be confusing for buyers when they are searching for a listing that is in the Olympic Listing Service and not in the Northwest MLS, or vice versa. Most of the time a listing will be in both if the listing agent is a member of both MLSs as I am, but not all local Sequim brokers are members of both services. As a practical matter about 98% of Sequim brokers have their listings in the OLS, and about 95% of local brokers have their listings in the NWMLS. That can leave a gap into which your ideal home could fall.
The Olympic Listing Service (OLS) is online an online system owned by a company called Paragon, and the only way a Sequim listing agent can get his listing in the OLS is to become a member of the local real estate association. The OLS listings cover Clallam County, primarily Sequim and Port Angeles, but do not cover listings outside Clallam County. Port Townsend, Port Ludlow, Port Hadlock, Quilcene, and all other and more distant areas use the Northwest MLS (NWMLS) for their listings.
About 10 years ago before other Sequim brokers, I created an Sequim MLS site that had data feeds from both the OLS and the NWMLS feeding into one MLS site you could search, but because of the state of technology and the software, that site eventually didn’t serve the buyers as well as I wanted it to. So I created a separate site about four years ago for the NWMLS and dedicated that site to fitting the data feed and the different fields of the NWMLS system, and I still had my separate Sequim MLS site at Sequim-Homes.com.
Now with advances in technology, in software for desktops and mobile devices, and because the OLS, the NWMLS, and the data feed companies have all gotten their software to advanced levels where they all play nice together, I’m able to combine those two MLSs into one site for buyers like you so it is seamless.
This video shows you briefly how to use this Sequim MLS site to find your ideal home no matter which MLS it is in. You can still use Zillow if you want to search, but if you want to be sure you are searching 100% of the Sequim area listings, AND if you want to be sure the MLS data you are seeing is accurate (my listings use the source data from listing agents, which is not what Zillow does and why so much of their scrapped data is incorrect), then you definitely want to use this MLS site. I think you’ll love it, the power of this site at your fingertips, and the ability to search with a simple address, special parameters, and even with a map. The user interface is wonderful, and you can also keep track of your favorites and make your short list of homes to view when you come. Of course, you can sign up for email alerts of new listings you might like.
