Buy a Home in Sequim Sight Unseen?
The idea of buying a home sight unseen is most likely not your first choice. Normally, I would not recommend buying a home until you’ve walked through it and around it yourself. But the Sequim real estate market is a strong seller’s market with a very low inventory, and demand far exceeds supply. Buyers from

Buying a Home? Disaster Strikes With Bad Advice
Buying a home is no small matter these days. I’m using the phrase “no small matter” like the Vikings used it. In the movie The 13th Warrior starring Antonio Banderas, his Viking friends used the phrase “no small matter” to describe situations that rose to the level of life threatening. If something was a small

The Importance of Unambiguous Real Estate Contracts
Ambiguous real estate contracts can turn into a nightmare for a buyer like you. Real estate contracts are an important part of buying a home, and normally your Realtor drafts your real estate contracts. These are binding agreements, and if your Realtor doesn’t draft clean documents that are unambiguous, you could end up with a nightmare.

Home Defects Haunt Buyers
Home defects can haunt a buyer long after moving into their home. We can’t all buy a brand new home, and the cost of buying land and hiring a home builder to build a new home is substantially more than buying an existing home, but an existing home may be on the perfect piece of land in

Buying a Home: The Biggest Problem
Buying a home used to be much easier. A purchase and sale agreement was one page. Your loan application was two pages, and a few weeks later the transaction was closed in the real estate office with two or three signatures. Now the purchase and sale agreement is 14 pages with all the required addendums.

Buyer Beware
Buyer beware comes from a latin phrase (“caveat emptor”) that has been a rule for hundreds of years. Buying a Home in Sequim is a dream come true for many from all over the United States. It certainly was for John (not his real name). John went through some challenging times. He shared with me that, “life doesn’t go according to plan,” and he then said, “that’s not the exception; that’s the rule.”

Buy a Home You Can Sell
Would you buy a home if you knew you could never sell it? Probably not, but people do it all the time. Of course, they don’t buy their retirement home saying to themselves, “We will never be able to sell this home,” but maybe they should be asking, “Is this Sequim home sellable some day?” [This
